KINSHIP CARE

I thought I would share with you a link that has helped me more than any other resource I found so far. Since taking on the children in March we were able to apply for 4c which is reduced prices for daycare. We were also able to apply for wic which stands for women infants and children if qualify you can receive milk formula fruits cereal bread juice for any children in your home under the age of five.

These were two things that I knew about prior to looking for resources. I discovered this website and started asking questions I asked my case manager about it and she put me in touch with them. The childrens home network. You could always comment below and I will attempt to help you and find out if there’s one in your area. This website at the bottom  leads to the kinship program. Kinship means that we are family members of the children that we are fostering. I found that there are things that we qualify for because we are fostering them without technically being foster parents. The liaison that came to my house has helped me fill out forms given me information invited me to support groups. Since I started receiving her help we have started receiving a monthly payment for the kids we have received a grant from a foundation that covers the kids extracurricular activities, dance and karate. We have gone to a back to school event where the children received all the back-to-school items and book bags. She is working on finding us some childcare for the weekends so we could continue to be adults and hang out with adults.

Also she can help you if you were in need of items like baby swings and walkers. She has offered to get me diapers and wipes that they have donated. They also have clothes that you could go through to see if anything fits your children. I turned around and re-gave them back the clothes that my kids already outgrew kind of a circle for other people I think it’s important to give back into these resources that were using. My kinship contact is amazing she helps me when my case worker is busy. We usually meet once a month. She comes to my house and we discuss any concerns I have.

They have get together/meetings every month in my area. At the meetings you can meet other families, get advice and learn about services from guest speakers. Best part they provide dinner and things for the kids to do so that you can participate in the meeting.

If you have not already been hooked up with a contact please check out their website. I know here in Florida they are expanding to other county’s.
